The NFL has tweaked its rule regarding where umpires will line up. Again. The league sent all 32 teams a memo Tuesday explaining the changes. The umpire will now be 12 yards from the offense's line of scrimmage when the ball is snapped. Originally, it was 15. The head linesman or line judge then signals when a snap can occur.

The NFL will update its teams this week on the repositioning of the umpire to the offensive backfield. A memo will be sent to the 32 clubs outlining how the change will work during the season. A meeting of the referees and umpires will be held Friday, one day after the season opener between Minnesota and New Orleans.

On Saturday, the Colts trimmed their roster to 53 by waiving seventh-round draft pick Ray Fisher, the Indiana alum, undrafted free agent Brandon James and receiver Sam Giguere -- making Devin Moore, the clear winner, in the competition for the return job.
