The agent for Vincent Jackson says the San Diego Chargers have given him the impression they aren't inclined to trade the Pro Bowl wide receiver. Unhappy that he hasn't been given a long-term deal, Jackson hasn't signed the one-year, $3,268,000 contract he was tendered as a restricted free agent.

San Diego Chargers rookie RB Ryan Mathews said he wants to sign and be in training camp on time, according to Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune. "I need to contribute this year," Mathews said. "Being in camp on time will help me do that." Mathews added, however, that business is business. "It’s also a business," Mathews said. "That’s what I have to realize. … I want to be on time. Hopefully that happens. If not, there’s nothing I can do."

The San Diego Chargers have released cornerback Brandon Hughes to make room on the roster for quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan. O'Sullivan was signed on Monday. The team also released center-guard Jeff Hansen and quarterback Jonathan Crompton from the practice squad. To replace them, the Chargers re-signed tackle Ryan Otterson and tight end Kory Sperry on Tuesday.
